The Book
Walking the Talk, first published by Random House, London in 2005, has become a classic script for those wanting to lead, plan and implement a culture process. It was described by the magazine Strategic HR Review as the most detailed, practical and readable book on how to change organizational culture, and continues to sell strongly today. Author Carolyn Taylor has been working in the field of culture for 20 years, and has been able to give numerous stories of what worked and what did not work in organizations she has known.
The book covers every step from defining the target culture to how to change your own behavior as a leader, and includes chapters on special circumstances such as mergers, rapid growth and changing culture within a division or team. The cultural archetypes described in the book are now used by several consulting and OD professionals to help them communicate different types of culture and how they align to specific business visions.
The company “Walking the Talk” was created in response to numerous requests by business leaders, HR professionals and consultants to learn more about the unique methodologies covered in Carolyn’s classic book.
The book is available from Amazon and other on-line booksites.
